Remember that the sewer lines lead to a water treatment plant that treats the water to meet the requirements for public water. Any chemicals that you put down the drain and into the sewer become part of the city public water. Please do not dump contaminants such as gasoline, oil or antifreeze. These cannot be removed completely so you and your family will be showering in and ingesting these poisons in very small amounts. I don’t know about you, but I would rather not.

A call this past week for All Unplugged was a broken cast iron sewer line. The original complaint was a slow flushing toilet from a hall bathroom and a slow draining shower from the same bathroom. The homeowner was aware that hydrojetting was the only way to completely clean a sewer line by using 3700 psi to scrub the walls of the pipe and ensure no debris would be left behind. Hydrojetting was performed however, the nozzle got stuck in a n area that it should not have. Right away he knew something else was wrong. Upon a sewer line video inspection, it was revealed that the cast iron pipe had a 12 inch broken area at the portion of the pipe just above the concrete slab in the living room. Long story short, the entire sewer line needed replaced from the bathroom to the street. Cast iron pipes eventually corrode, rot or rust away. This particular house was over 30 years old. All Unplugged Sewer &Drain service recommends hydrojetting your sewer lines at least yearly to maintain your infrastructure. Especially if you own an older home with cast iron pipes. Maintaining your sewer lines will help you get the most of the sewer lines and they will last longer. Once they do need to be replaced it is a very costly job, maintainence helps to prevent that. For all your sewer and drain needs call All Unplugged 702-375-5051.

Its that time of year again. Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away and turkeys will be filling the ovens of many homes. One common problem we find at this time of year is clogged garbage disposals. When they are clogged it causes the drain to clog or back up or even have a slow drain. The most common cause is potato peelings. As you prepare your meal, some people peel the potatoes and shove the peelings down the drain and turn on the disposal. What they don’t realize is that many of those peelings stick to the side walls of the pipe once they pass the disposal and that will narrow the drain pipe and possibly cause a blockage on the spot. The drain clog could happen the next time you clean out the leftovers in the frig. When you put down more food, the potatoes sticking to the walls of the pipe act as and adhesive to the other food and will lead to a clogged drain. All Unplugged recommends you do not put your potato peelings down the drain. Instead, throw them in the trash. However, if you do experience a drain clog please call all unplugged sewer & drain service. If you are in sewer need don’t call just any plumber!

On a recent call by a homeowner, all unplugged had to explain to an individual the cause for their sewer lines to back up and the drains inside to clog. Many homes in certain parts of las Vegas were built so fast leaving certain things unfinished. One of them being properly connecting the sewer line to the las Vegas main sewer. This homeowner had already had 2 previous las Vegas plumbers at his house and they simply snaked the clogged drain and left. All unplugged performed a video inspection and discovered the cause of the sewer back up and drain clog. The las Vegas sewer was never connected to the home. There was about a six inch space between the two sewer lines. This allows for dirt, debris and rock to fill the pipe and prevent proper flow. All unplugged hydro jetted the sewer line and restored the flow. The homeowner was made aware of the problem and advised on how to correct it. Meanwhile, his sewer will not be backing up into his home. The clogged drain was released and he had no current sewer problems. Unlike a snake, the hydrojetting will get rid of all debris and blockage. Call all unplugged sewer and drain service for all your las Vegas plumbing and sewer problems.

They advertise it to be a great fix for a clogged drain or slow draining pipe. It claims to melt away the sewer blockage or clean the sewer or drain pipes efficiently. Draino is commonly used by numerous people. All unplugged sewer and drain service does not recommend the use of this product. It has been shown to corrode the drain and sewer pipes and would eventually need repaired. The proper way to release a sewer blockage or drain problem is to call a professional to have it hydrojetted. Hydrojetting uses 2700psi of pressure and water with a rotating nozzle and effectively cleans the walls of the pipe and cuts through and removes whatever is in the drain pipe causing the sewer to back up or drain slow. Cleaning a drain or sewer line properly allows for proper function to return and stay. Improper cleaning only allows for the problem to resurface sometimes as soon as the next day.

A recent call from a homeowner revealed concrete in the sewer lines. The home had been recently purchased. Most likely during the home inspection the water turned on and appeared to run just fine. However, if it had been ran for any length of time the homeowner would have discovered the water to begin to drain very slowly before backing up. The concrete had not sealed to drain completely shut. There was still a small opening allowing water or fluid to flow. Once anything of mass tried to pass down the sewer line it started to back up into the homeowners house. When you purchase a home, an inspection of the sewer lines should be performed. It is up to the purchaser to request this inexpensive inspection that could forewarn you of a major problem. Had this homeowner known of the problem, the sewer would not have backed up into the home causing carpet and drywall damage. All unplugged was able to clear the sewer pipe and restore proper function of the sewer system to this particular house. All unplugged sewer and drain service did so by hydrojetting the sewer lines. Upon video inspection of the sewer lines, broken pipes, or even unconnected sewer lines have been discovered as well. You should always have a video inspection of your sewer lines before purchasing a house. Especially in this market with disgruntled tenants being forced out their homes.

Usually I would post this around the holiday season. That is usually when I see problems arise from potato peelings, however, I have had 3 calls related to this in the last two weeks. My kitchen sink is clogged or my garbage disposal is broken. That has been the most recent complaint. Many people, my wife included, think the garbage disposal will chop up what you put down the drain. The garbage disposal should be used to help grind or chop very small amounts of food. The bulk of the food from the plate should be placed in the trash. Yes the garbage disposal will chop up the food but, if there is an excess amount, it will get stuck in the pipe and clog the drain line. Potato peelings seem to easily stick to the walls of the pipe and tend to cause this problem. All in all, do not use the garbage disposal as a food processor, use it how it was meant to be used. When the sink does back up you can always count on all unplugged to clear your pipes. We treat you like family.
